Constable said that all the light comes from the sky. But every day and every sky is different, and light washes over everything in your landscape. Painting  the colour of the light is really dictated by the kind of day you’re painting – is it dawn light? Is it light diffused by fog or rain? Is it sunset light? Once you nail down the kind and time of day, mixing colour to match it becomes key. And easier.

In this three-week workshop, David will show you how to think about different light and mix colours to convey a believable sense of a certain time of day. He will cover a different type of light each week.

He’ll assign homework and he’ll critique your work using Procreate on his iPad so you’ll actually see what he’s saying in his text comments!
