It’s common for artists to experience creative blocks periodically, there seems to be no access to creative impulses or modes of thinking. But all creative blocks are not created equal. Different blocks require different solutions, not the least of which is to deal with that ever present Inner Critic. In this Technique Takeaway, we will explore through discussion, demonstrations and various exercises, how to get those creative juices flowing.

HB or 2B pencil or Pigma Micron pen (0.7) Tombow markers or crayons
Scissors

Cynthia Armstrong holds a graduate certificate degree from UC Santa Cruz in Science Illustration and a Master’s degree in Education from Stanford University. She has been a freelance illustrator and artist for over 25 years, and a teacher for the past 20 years. Cynthia, as a published illustrator, has traveled and journaled extensively throughout her career. About Our Technique Takeaways: 

  • Discover specific art techniques you can ‘take away’  from some of your favorite artists and apply to your own work. This one-and-a-half hour presentation will showcase a process that the artist incorporates in their daily art practice.  Instruction will be through a combination of lecture and demonstration by the artists.
