Chris Witkowski - Concept to Creation: Creating the 2021 Wooden Boat Festival Poster (Recording) - Free!

Date: Wednesday, September 8, 2021
Time: 10:00-11:30 AM Pacific Time/1:00-2:30 PM Eastern Time/6:00-7:30 PM London Time

Fine artist and illustrator Chris Witkowski will share the process of how she created the 2021 Wooden Boat Festival poster in this online presentation offered through the Winslow Art Center on Bainbridge Island.  She will describe how she and the Wooden Boat Festival team came up with the concept for the poster.  With photos she took using a live model, she will demonstrate how these were combined with historical photos and other reference materials to construct the vibrant pastel painting used in the poster.  Experience the process of how this compelling image came to be in support of one of our most venerable Northwest traditions, the 45th Wooden Boat Festival.

Chris Witkowski has been working as a fine artist on the West Coast for over 40 years. She resides in Port Townsend where her commissioned art has been used to promote the Port Townsend Farmers Market, the Organic Seed Alliance, the Wooden Boat Festival and many other businesses and organizations. Her watercolors, pastels and oils are in private collections throughout the United States. Her work conveys the essence of her subject through rich color, beautiful light and strong composition.
