Discover the joy of sketching flowers with watercolor! This two-week class will help you loosen up, improve your observation skills, and experiment with different watercolor techniques. Through a relaxed and playful approach, you’ll explore a variety of flowers and learn how to capture their unique shapes, gestures, and textures with expressive brushwork.
Guided by fine artist and teacher Catherine Bobkoski, each session will focus on observing a variety of floral subjects. You’ll practice techniques such as wet-on-wet, glazing, and negative painting while developing a sketching habit that encourages creativity and confidence. Reference images will be provided, but students are also encouraged to work from direct observation.
This class is perfect for artists of all levels looking to refine their watercolor skills and find inspiration in the beauty of flowers.

Catherine Bobkoski is a still life and figurative artist whose work celebrates the quiet beauty of ordinary things. Her expressive, yet delicate paintings of flowers and still life scenes are exhibited nationally, including at the Oil Painters of America 2021 National Juried Exhibition. Catherine also enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of painting with others. She is a sought after painting instructor with over 10 years of experience and teaches at many art schools throughout Southern California. Students describe Catherine’s teaching style as generous, thorough and joyful. She especially enjoys teaching painting and drawing basics to students in a clear, concise way that is easy to understand. Catherine began studying drawing and painting at The Watts Atelier in Encinitas, California and later at Grand Central Academy and New York University in New York City. She has also studied with many inspiring artists along the way, including Daniel Keys, Dustin Van Wechel, and Vadim Zang.
