Join renowned artist Carol Maguire, celebrated for her vibrant color palette and expressive marks, in this joyful summer painting class. Carol’s expertise as a colorist shines through her thick impasto techniques, masterfully applied with a palette knife.
Each week, Carol will set up a fresh and bountiful floral still life inspired by the beauty of summer gardens. Through live demonstrations, she will guide you step-by-step, sharing tips on color mixing, composition, and the art of bold, expressive mark-making. Midway through each session, we’ll pause for a friendly check-in to share progress, celebrate discoveries, and offer supportive feedback.
Carol is known for her warm, encouraging teaching style, creating a space where every student feels empowered to take creative risks. Whether you’re new to palette knife painting or an experienced artist looking to refresh your approach, this class invites you to take chances, experiment freely, and have fun.

Carol Maguire holds a Bachelor’s in Art History from Fairfield University and the Sorbonne, she has furthered her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Barnes Foundation and Fleisher Memorial. Her passion results in painterly works saturated with color and joie de vivre. Inspired by a love for color, textiles and gardening, her work focuses on objects that surround her daily life. She is represented at galleries in North Carolina, Delaware, New York and in Massachusetts on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.
