Historically, many artists, from Michelangelo to Matisse, Cezanne and Bonnard, have painted scenes looking from the inside out, a process which essentially combines two paintings in one and rewards the viewer with a “you-are-there” experience. In this 4-week class, Carol Maguire will share insights into her creative process while guiding you through techniques and exercises for painting the still life in the window, looking from the inside out. Class will include demonstrations, hands-on feedback and lots of personal attention. Work in oils or acrylics. Carol will work in oils. All levels.

Carol Maguire holds a Bachelor’s in Art History from Fairfield University and the Sorbonne, she has furthered her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Barnes Foundation and Fleisher Memorial. Maguire started painting full time and showing her work after 9/11/2001. Her extensive travels have brought her to India, Peru, Romania, Guatemala and Honduras where she has taught her artistic skills to the indigenous women. She has worked as a consultant for the State Department where Maguire’s special skills involved identifying the the skills of the artisans and the materials available to them, blending them to design a program of products to make.

Prior to her full time painting Carol was the design director of a high-end doll company. She has taught doll making in the Transylvanian Alps and in the Andes of Peru. Carol’s quilt designs have been featured in books and magazines for Better Homes and Gardens, and she has designed dinnerware for Waterford-Wedgewood and Lenox China.
