Discover how to capture the illusion of light in luminous settings while creating imapact in this 4-week watercolor class with acclaimed watercolor artist Betty Carr. Working from different subject matter each week- still life, landscape, architecture and skyscape- Betty will share techniques for capturing qualities of light in your work. In Betty Carr‘s words, “It’s not about painting things, it’s about understanding how to paint the light on things.” Among the many topics addressed, Carr will dicuss using values to simplify, how to use value sketches to understand composition, finding the focal point in your paintings, and how to develop a keen eye for color.
Betty Carr received her MFA from San Jose State University and has taught painting and sculpture for many years. She has been selected as a Master Artist in the American Impressionist Society AISM signature. As a professional artist throughout her distinguished career she has traveled extensively gathering inspirational subject matter through her plein air painting experiences. Carr is the author of acclaimed instructional book, ” Seeing the Light: An Artist’s Guide”, and her work featured in numerous books including Creative Composition & Design,’The Painter’s Workshop; Splash 5; Painter’s Quick Reference; Flowers; Landscapes, and Flower Pocket Pal. Her work is featured in the recent book,” Sedona’s Best Artists”. Betty has taught workshops both nationally and internationaly for many years.
