Get confidence in your ability to capture the essence of the human head. Many artists shy away from this subject but with some practice and mastery of a few simple rules, you can paint a convincing head. This class is a good primer for the intermediate artist that wants to hone their skills of observation and paint handling. Even though the portrait may not be the focus of your art journey, drawing or painting the human form is a tried-and-true artistic practice that can’t be overstated. Several instructor demonstrations and individual commentary and critique are provided. This class will be taught from the perspective of the oil painting medium although acrylic and gouache are accepted. There is no specific materials list for this course. Students should have a good working knowledge of the medium of their choice.
