We are all inspired by artists that came before us and I’m certain they were inspired by someone before them. Examining their work and understanding what sets them apart will be the focus of this course. Over 4 weeks participants will study the master work of two great artist: Edouard Vuillard and Fairfield Porter.
The general course flow will be to discuss the work of each artist and what makes them unique. On week one participants will create a copy of one of the master works while picking one or two elements that inspire them. On week two participants will create their own painting inspired by what they learned from the master artist. This class will offer lively discussion and insight over and above creating a painting. Instructor will work along with participants on each master artist with live and recorded demos and be a part of the dialogue. You can use your medium of choice and there is no specific materials list for this course. Previous painting experience in your medium of choice required.
