Supply List

Color is fundamental to any kind of painting, but it is also one of the most complex, challenging, and personal aspects. This is a continuation of Seeing and Mixing Color With Sensitivity Part One, but all experienced painters are welcomed to join regardless of their participation in the last class. During this 3 session class, we will develop our skills in perceiving and using color with sensitivity. Moving beyond fundamentals, we will do a series of exercises to challenge your use and manipulation of color. We will focus on identifying and painting subtle color relationships, creating an illusion of light and surface quality, working within limited value ranges, and ways to deviate from observed color. These short challenges should strengthen and expand the ways you use color in your personal work.

There will be demos, presentations, feedback on individual work, and plenty of time for questions. You will be encouraged to partake in some shorter exercises during class and work on the longer projects outside of class for review the following week. This class is open to experienced acrylic or oil painters.
