Chances are your sketchbook is full of quick ideas, experiments, and more developed drawings.  This class also includes quick exercises and more developed compositions, with the focus being the five art elements: line, shape, color, texture, and value.  Each week one art element is explored at a time.  You will draw from your own still life set-ups, from houseplants or flowers, photos, video, as well as your imagination.  Drawing media includes: conté crayon, charcoal, artist crayons, markers, opaque watercolor, and gouache paint.

This is the first section of a two-part course.  You can register for one or both Part 1 & 2.  Some drawing experience is recommended. This course aims to expand your expressive visual vocabulary and encourage a dynamic daily sketchbook practice.
