Dates Recorded: August 22 & 29, 2022
Level: All, Prerequisite for Abstraction in Nature Part II
Medium: Cold Wax and Oil
Painting nature in the abstract allows for individual and unique interpretation of a scene. In this two-session introductory workshop, Mark Russell will share his approach to creating abstract landscapes. You’ll be encouraged to challenge yourself with new ways to interpret what you see. Through instructor demonstrations, you’ll learn new ways to create abstracted landscape paintings using unique tools, materials, and techniques. You’ll also be introduced to the use of cold wax medium, Galkyd, Galkyd Gel and Neo Megilp as additions to your current oil painting practice. The workshop also addresses planning, composition, seeing and reacting, abstracting and simplifying shapes, using unique and unconventional color, and creating unique effects.
