Recognized for loose impressionistic paintings rich with color, expressive brushwork, and palette knife work, Lynn Mehta is an award-winning artist living in Virginia. An artist since childhood, Lynn earned her B.A. in Art from San Diego State University, and has studied with internationally acclaimed artists in the US and abroad.
Lynn draws inspiration from the world around, believing that art creates a universal connection. Her subjects include seascapes, rural scenes, boats, vibrant flowers, and natural landscapes. Color, composition, and paint handling are key elements in her paintings and tools for her expression. She connects with changing light, the color of her surroundings, and movement, focusing on abstract shapes and forms which weave together a whole painting.
Lynn is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and the American Society of Marine Artists. Her work is included in public collections nationwide, including the Maryhill Museum of Art in Washington, the National Institutes of Health, and Acadia National Park Artists-in-Residency.
Throughout her career Lynn has received numerous awards for her work in national and international exhibitions and competitions. A few of her recent awards include 1st Place in Borrego Springs Invitational Plein Air 2025 in California, 1st Place Brandywine Plein Air 2022, and Best Agricultural Award Gloucester Plein Air Invitational 2023.
Artwork by Mehta can be found in public and private collections, books, and magazines internationally. She is represented by galleries in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida.
