Annelise Firth’s background in history of art and a master’s degree in fine art informs her practice in many ways - Turner’s landscapes, Vincent Van Gogh’s flowers and the flat patterns in a Matisse painting.
As a New English Art Club drawing scholar, sketching the composition was paramount. Nowadays the finished painting focuses on colour and creating a looser, more free, representation of what she sees in front of her.
