“Farmstand Bouquet” is an alla prima still life I painted in N.C. while I was away on vacation during my painting peonies class with Yana. I took only my palette knife, a single 11 x 14 gessobord and a limited RBY palette of tube paints plus titanium white. I used Yana’s excellent tips of premixing my palette and used a very limited palette of cadmium yellow light, cerulean and ultramarine blue, cadmium red medium and permanent rose with Titanium white. Once I mixed as many colors as I could see, and then some, I just let the palette knife fly and had a blast painting it with reckless abandon until the final details were slowly resolved. The intimidating bouquet was a gift from my daughter who found it the farm stand next to our lodging.
