A Foundation in Drawing with Mark Thompson provides a path to reintegrate strong drawing skills into the heart of your practice. So often, as we progress in our chosen medium, we let our drawing skills fall away – “I know how do that, now I can move on”. Through this hands on course, Mark will refresh your excitement for drawing, and enable you to strengthen the underpinning of your creativity. Each week we will work together on exercises that reference art history and explore line, value, and form, and how to apply these principles in your continuing artistic practice. Sharpen those pencils, and let’s get to it!
Week one: Lines and learning how to see
We will train the eye to see, and draw what’s actually there.
Week two: The value of values
A deep dive into light and how it reveals the world of shadow.
Week three: Building form and an empathic bridge
Bringing line and value together, allowing form to develop.
