Supply List

In this workshop we will create 2 floral acrylic paintings in shimmering sunlight. Along the way you will learn how to:

  • Mix, contrast, and balance muted and saturated colors to capture the dramatic and subtle color ranges of flowers in light and shadow,
  • Use opaque and transparent acrylic layering to create translucency, texture, and soft and hard edges of petals and leaves,
  • Use value, shapes, and lighting to create flowers in three dimensional forms,
  • Work smarter not harder with the right amount of detail in the right place to create better depth and stronger focal point,
  • Apply simple color theory concepts to add and modify colors to refine the painting’s color harmony.

This workshop will include painting demos, student work feedback sessions, slideshow presentations, and eye training exercises. This combination of activities are designed to help refine your painting techniques and observation skills. Photo references will be provided for all painting assignments. More experienced students can use their own references.
