Discover how artist Anton Nowels uses color and design, versus narrative, to create a sense of place in his work. Through dramatic color choices, inventive composition and  bold mark-making, Anton will share his process, an approach that invites experimentation and surprise.

Students will delve into design principles, develop personal color palettes and experiment with both traditional and unconventional tools. Emphasis will be placed on taking creative risks and embracing the unexpected.

The class will include discussions about influential artists such as Joan Mitchell, Victor Higgins, and Bret Allen-Johnson for context and inspiration.
