An in depth look at the techniques used by a variety of Impressionists to describe color, brushwork and light in the subjects dear to the Impressionist painters: landscape, portrait and still life.
Each week we will focus on one of the three subjects with visually rich presentations of examples by much loved Impressionist painters, visual history of art and techniques, background on the theories and materials that create the works and fully narrated painting demos by Al.
Students will have a weekly painting project assignment in which they explore and improve their brushwork, color, depth and illusions of light. These will be critiqued by the instructor online and during class sessions.
The course goal is to not only understand Impressionist and Alla Prima Painting better, but for students to improve their overall skills in painting.
Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor and Pastel welcome. Designed for all levels of experience.
