Supply List

This course considers ways in which we would add to, extend or invent creative and expressive growth in our work. These additions can just improving what you already do with more confidence, experimental explorations, or ways in which you would like to chart a new path in your work.

Each week we will look at a variety of artists who are exploring interesting expressive and even abstract pathways in their work as role models for our explorations of observational, expressive and non-objective approaches. Video demos, discussions and weekly critiques of the projects will be an important part of this course.

Weekly Projects will be to do a work in which students add to, explore or change ways they are working with color, style, expression and composition.

1. Introduction, visual history of style in art, palettes, materials, Still Life
2. Landscape and color, style and expression
3. Portraits, character and emotion; Figure and the expression of the body
