In this two-week workshop, we’ll create a series of 8×8 inch painted paper contemporary collages. In the first week, we’ll paint a wild cacophony of papers using paints, inks, stamps, brushes, squeegees, pens, splatters, drips, and unconventional tools. In the second week, we’ll dig through our colorful painted papers to rip, cut, and glue, then go in and make marks and add words. (We might even dig through personal collage papers to add a final piece of zing to our collages.)
Our finished collages will read like abstract paintings, and will reflect our curiosity, playfulness, and a sense of experimentation, all the while pushing the limits of color, design, and composition.
