In this session, painter and printmaker Ann Rosenthal will present the cyanotype process, one of the earliest forms of photography that involves laying one or more objects on chemically-treated paper and then exposing it to a light source. Ann will discuss a range of methods, including anthotypes, in which the chemical solution is derived entirely from plants! Historic and contemporary artworks based on these methods will also be explored.
