Level: All
Medium: Oil or acrylics and charcoal
Develop your portrait skills with Mel Williamson in this fun, and supportive workshop using oil paints (or acrylics) and charcoal.
Using just four basic paint colours (known as the Zorn Palette) we can make virtually any colour needed to paint a portrait. A limited palette builds skills very quickly, and makes colour mixing less overwhelming. I will demonstrate simple exercises to reduce the complexity of the face, for a fearless approach.
We’ll explore a few key anatomical points of the skull, to help understand the structure behind facial features. And I will share tips on maintaining soft edges within a portrait, for lifelike quality. By the end of our time together, you’ll have some new techniques under your belt and more confidence to tackle drawing and painting portraits. All levels are most welcome.
