Medium: Open to artists working in gouache, oil or acrylics (not watercolor) – Richard will work in oil
On this course, Richard will be exploring the use of memory and imagination to create expressive landscape paintings. From landscapes to seascapes and skies, his approach will focus on developing style and a painterly language through the use of memory and imagination, with minimal direct observation.
Using photographs, Richard and participants will make basic thumbnail sketches, which will become the compositional framework for paintings. Emphasis will then be placed on the use of bold and expressive paint application and mark making, feeding directly from memory and imagination.
Great for beginners and experienced painters alike, this course is particularly good for those who want to loosen up.
With lots of demonstrations, exercises and painting time, this course is an interactive exploration into expressive painting.
Richard will be using Oil (By Winsor & Newton). However you are welcome to use Acrylic or Gouache (Not Watercolor)
