In this workshop we will create luminous realistic close-up floral paintings in acrylic with many shades of subtle colors to depict delicate flowers in sunlight. While creating these paintings, you will learn a lot about colors, composition, and acrylic layering techniques.

In this workshop we will cover:

• How to see and paint subtle color changes in flowers,
• Creating warm and cool, saturated and muted color shifts to enhance color vibrancy,
• Creating a strong focal point with the right amount of detail and good balance of hard and soft edges,
• The steps of transparent and opaque acrylic layering,
• Creating good composition by balancing positive and negative spaces.

We will produce 3 paintings in this class. More advanced students are encouraged to create paintings using their own reference. You can create paintings using the same references as Wayne’s demo or create paintings from your own references.

This class will include painting demos, student work feedback sessions, slideshow presentations, and eye training exercises. These combinations of activities are designed to help refine your acrylic painting techniques and observation skills.
