Supply List

Still life compositions have been used as a vehicle for the exploration of new painting methods and ideas. Everything from Impressionism to early modern Abstraction has utilised still life as subject matter. This workshop will help to develop your understanding of colour and composition. Using simple still life set ups and working with oil paint, we will explore the way colours can interact across the surface. We will look at variations in composition and what that does to the visual impact of the painting. Keeping it simple means just that, we will concentrate on organising colour and spatial relationships, using simple set ups as in the example above. You will do a lot of drawing and colour mixing, it will be fun and I hope will enable you to develop your own work in the future what ever subject you choose to paint.
