This 3-week session of Abstracting the Landscape takes our inspiration from the masterworks of the past. By focusing on an individual artist’s work, we will deconstruct compositions to create our own abstracted works. Open to all oil and acrylic painters who are willing to let go, experiment and take chances!

Each session will start with a presentation/demonstration, followed by a series of painting exercises. Students will be able to show their work online for group discussions.

Scott Gellatly holds a degree in painting and drawing from the University of Oregon and has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States. A landscape painter at heart, Scott’s work has become more abstracted, with greater emphasis on pure color and gestural mark-making to evoke nature.
