Join David Mensing online for Harmony of Color and Light, an exciting and inspiring course in the understanding and application of harmonious color. While it cannot be disputed that harmonious color is desirable in fine paintings, many artists find it to be elusive in concept and practice. Often it is difficult to find practical and reliable ways to achieve it.
This course will help students understand the relationship of color and light and offer specific techniques to ensure harmonious color application in their paintings. Students will be encouraged to experiment with new techniques for vibrant compositions and emotional expression. With lively discussion, demonstration and exercises we will explore the relationship between light and color, and each student will have the opportunity to apply the material in their own paintings. Discussion topics will include light source influence, relationships between value and color characteristics, utilizing complimentary colors and various strategies for color application.
Attention to certain key principles of painting can accelerate growth as an artist. Even modest growth in these areas can have profound impact on overall quality of work. An artist of any skill level that develops a deeper appreciation and understanding of harmonious color is poised to make significant improvement in their work.
Throughout this online course, expect to enjoy group instruction and demonstration with assigned exercises to be completed between classes. At the conclusion of the four-week course, you will have new tools and a new outlook to take your paintings to the next level.
