Discover the unequaled luminosity of egg tempera In this 4-week class with award-winning artist Stewart White. Egg tempera painting was a primary method of painting until the16th Century and was used extensively throughout the Italian Renaissance. Examples of it from the First Century AD still exist.
Egg tempera is a permanent, fast-drying painting medium consisting of colored pigments mixed with egg yolk. It is extremely permanent, and does not darken with the age. Stewart White will walk you through the basics and practical application of painting with this medium, from creating paint by mixing pure pigments with egg yolk, to applying thin layers of it. The technique of painting layer upon layer results in a smooth luminous surface.
