Ready to join artists who paint food like Thiebaud, Cezanne and Judy Chicago on a different kind of painting adventure? I love painting all subjects, but perhaps the one that gives me the most pleasure is the food I’ve shared with friends and family. Capturing the flavor and camaraderie of an Italian riboleta in Siena or dry vermouth and olives skewered with parma ham in Madrid in paint is a joy. A photo just doesn’t always show it as well. When I paint my favorite gelato cone or a vibrant, spicy shakshouka I am transported back to that day, those people, and of course, that taste. In this class I will help you edit your food obsessions and create mouth watering culinary landscapes and food portraits that will use all of your painting techniques and skills and, with demos, teach you new ones. Bon apetit!

Barton has lived in Arizona for over 40 years and loves the desert landscape but lately travel has taken her to Greece, Italy and Iceland and a recent collection celebrates the beauty and movement of the water she studied there. Her travel sketchbooks inspired The Travelers’ Creative Sketchbook and Illustrated Letters classes, which she teaches in Arizona, Illinois and Washington.
