This class will explore the creative possibilities of drawing, both as a conduit for creative thought, and as a powerful tool of perception and ideation.  We will look at drawing as a spectrum of processes which we can apply to our observations and concepts, developing our consciousness of line, shape, pattern, and pictorial space.

Topics will include, but are in no way limited to:

  • Both blind and quick contour
  • Continuous line
  • Graphic ideation and design
  • Gesture and mass
  • Linear perspective
  • sight lines and measuring
  • Improvisations in line and value
  • The notan

All mediums are welcome.

Patrick Lee grew up in Western Pennsylvania and attended Edinboro University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Painting with an Art History minor. Lee works primarily in oils, charcoal, and watercolor (gouache). His chosen subject matter generally ranges from figurative works and landscapes to still-life and interiors.

Lee has participated in many group and solo exhibitions, including Plein Air painting events like Plein Air Easton and Wayne Plein Air and have been an adjunct professor of art at Allegheny Community College for the past several years. patrickleefineart.com
