Supply List-Watercolor Workshop, Yong Hong Zhong
Learn how to take your painting from thumbnail sketch to completion with acclaimed artist and instructor Yong Hong Zhong. Topics emphasized include composition,value, color, light, shadow and simplification of shapes. Weather permitting, participants will paint outside one day of the workshop. Lots of hands on practice and one-on-one with the instructor. Each day will include lectures and discussions, instructor demos and critiques.
Morning: 30 to 40 minutes lecture/discussion on visual structure of painting with emphasis on composition and value. Brief discussion on materials and supplies. Basic watercolor techniques (demo) followed by student hands on practice.
Afternoon: Demo using black and white photo (photos will be provided by instructor) followed by student hands on practice. End of the day critique.
30 to 40 minutes lecture/discussion on simplification of shapes with emphasis on value, color, light and shadow. Demo using black and white photo (photos will be provided by instructor) on morning session and color photo (photos will be provided by instructor) for afternoon session. Student hands on practice and end of the day critique.
Outdoor plein air painting (weather permitting). Plein air painting demo on morning session or demo using photo as reference for demo. Afternoon session, student hands on practice painting on location or using their own photo reference and end of workshop critique.
