Painting outdoors in the open air can be frustrating and overwhelming, even for the most experienced painter. In this live online course, Tim Deibler will break down the landscape into easy to grasp pieces, teaching you to see the entire picture as a series of shapes, values and colors. The emphasis will be on simplifying the landscape down to its most important visual information. Working quickly and accurately from photos of nature, you will look at different elements of the landscape-evergreen and deciduous trees, rocks, rivers, lakes, mountains, clouds and sky- to create small studies. The final goal will be to put all of these pieces together to create a finished painting.
At the end of the first 2 days, you will be given an assignment to complete over the next few days. On April 22, the class will reconvene for a group critique and discussion, followed by a 2-hour demo by Tim Deibler.
Tim Deibler is a well-known award-winning artist living in Colorado. After the success of his book Capturing the Seasons in Oils, published by North Light Books, he became a popular teacher and workshop instructor. His work has appeared in many books and publications including Southwest Art.
