This demo/talk is part of our Technique Takeaway series.

Date: Friday, January 29, 2021
Time: 2:00-3:30PM PST

Discover specific art techniques that you can ‘take away’  from some of your favorite artists and apply to your own work. Each one and a half hour presentation will showcase a different process that each of these artists incorporates in their daily art practice.  Instruction will be through a combination of lecture and demonstration by the artists.

Our Technique Takeaways are presented live via Zoom. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the instructor via the Zoom chat box and will have access to the recorded session for 30 days. You will receive a Zoom meeting link and passcode the day before the talk. To take part, you will need a camera enabled computer OR an IPad/smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.

Join Scott Gellatly for an hour and a half discussion and demonstration on capturing convincing skies through expressive brushwork. Scott will demonstrate how the texture, transparency, and density of clouds can be visually communicated through dynamic paint-handling. Demonstrations will be given in oil, but the content is appropriate to a variety of painting media.
