Our live online classes are taught via Zoom. Students have the opportunity to interact with the instructor and other participants, watch live demos and receive feedback and instruction. You will have access to a class chat forum where you can share work, comment and ask questions. Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive instructions about how to access the class.

To take this class, you need a microphone and camera enabled computer OR an IPad /smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.

This four-week online class will help take your portrait drawings to the next level. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this class will further your skills. Step-by-step demonstrations by artist/instructor Oliver Sin will help you look closely and understand the structure of the face. Participants will draw from photo references and learn the techniques of mastering expressive portraiture from the beginning to the finished stages with different dry media. All levels welcome!

Oliver Sin is an alumnus of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA, with a BFA in Illustration. After graduating in 1996, he worked as a computer game concept artist in LucasArts. Since 2001, Oliver has worked as an art professor for the School of Fine Arts and 2D Animation. Oliver has mentored with artists ZhaoMing Wu, Henry Yan and Chung-Wei Chien. Oliver’s book, “Drawing the Head for Artists” was published in 2019. Oliver was commissioned do portraits of Emmy Noether and Virginia Woolf for the TIME Magazine covers, released worldwide on March 16, 2020.
