For this two-day workshop, we’ll work in sketchbooks and at the easel to create studio reference material as well as a finished painting. When faced with such visual overload outdoors, it’s easy to want to paint it all! But, more often than not, our plein air paintings can suffer from chaos. How do you narrow your focus? How do you learn to edit with purpose? If time is short, how do you gather all the information you need before the light changes, or before it rains, or before it gets too windy? I’ll be teaching you to effectively use your sketchbook and quick field studies as a means to collect information that you can later use in the studio. Then, we’ll tackle a full painting, using easy methods to break down values and color choices.
Lyn Asselta’s award winning paintings have appeared in shows and exhibitions throughout the United States, and in invitational exhibitions in France and China.
