Our live online classes are taught via Zoom. Students have the opportunity to interact with the instructor and other participants, watch live demos and receive feedback and instruction. You will have access to a class chat forum where you can share work, comment and ask questions. Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive instructions about how to access the class.
To take this class, you need a microphone and camera enabled computer OR an IPad /smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.
Discover the benefits of maintaining a daily sketchbook practice in this 5-week, interactive and in-depth exploration with Lisa Snow Lady. Lisa will guide you as you fill up your sketchbook with the theme of your choice. Each week a new topic will be discussed to help you create your personalized journal. Following fun warm-up exercises and inspirational resources presented at the beginning of each class, you will be given feedback and time to work on themes and ideas at your own pace! Ideas for your personal journal themes may include: the Beautiful Ordinary, Seasonal Botanicals, Wildlife, Travels At Home Or Abroad, etc.
This class is open to all levels. Weekly topics discussed will include:
• Mark making
• Color exploration
• Incorporating text
• Page layout and design
• Creating strong compositions
• Making supplemental handmade books
• Use of a variety of materials
Seattle-based fine artist Lisa Snow Lady received a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Washington, and a Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture from Edmonds Collage in Washington. Lisa has worked as a graphic designer and is an experienced instructor of botanical and travel sketching classes. She especially loves book design. In 2019, she had the wonderful opportunity to travel with Martha Jordan and Winslow Art Center to Trevi, Italy to teach a Travel Journal Class.
