Our live online classes are taught via Zoom. Students have the opportunity to interact with the instructor and other participants, watch live demos and receive feedback and instruction. You will have access to a class chat forum where you can share work, comment and ask questions. Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive instructions about how to access the class.

To take this class, you need a microphone and camera enabled computer OR an IPad /smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.

This 5-week course will cover some of the intuitive and analytical approaches toward design and invention, applying to any medium. Learn about “Gestalt Flash Drawings” and how Gestalt Laws of Organization influence our designs. Learn the difference between pictures/patterns and the simple but vital importance of visual similarity vs visual difference. There will be compositional analyses of paintings and photographs. (A drawing pad and pencil, and any media with which you work, will be needed for this class.)

 Joseph Podlesnik holds a BFA in drawing and painting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MFA in drawing and painting from Cornell University. He currently serves as Adjunct Instructor of Art for Stockton University and Facilitator for the Online Digital Photography Certificate Program at eCornell. Podlesnik exhibits his photographs, singly and in group shows, nationally and internationally. He resides in Phoenix, AZ.
