Before World War II, a host of European artists came to Bali to paint and sometimes exploit its people and landscapes. This one-hour lecture will include the works of Jean Le Mayeur, Roland Strasser, Walter Spies and others.

Art historian John Seed presents a series of lectures on art and artists that you may not have heard of. Each one hour presentation will be followed by a short Q and A session.

John Seed is a Professor Emeritus of Art and Art History at Mt. San Jacinto College. After earning degrees in Art and Stanford and UC Berkeley—where he became familiar with Bay Area Art—Seed has spent over 25 years working as a researcher for a private dealer in Hawaiian and Southeast Asian art. Seed has recently written feature articles for Arts of Asia Magazine and Sotheby’s Asia.
