We are surrounded by great complexity in our visual environment and as artists our job is to simplify, clarify, and emphasize. This class is designed to challenge and grow your skills. Using photographs from the instructor and your own collection we will focus on a different theme each week- the landscape, interiors, figures and student choice. Because much of our success as artists depends upon the choices we make before we get started drawing; we will spend time discussing what makes a good photo reference for each of the different subject matter. Lessons will cover creating dynamic compositions and simplifying shapes to create value masses. All classes will be held on-line and consist of an interactive group of students. Instruction will be through lecture, demos, student work and live feedback with the instructor. Student choice of media; charcoal, graphite, pastel, markers. Prior drawing experience suggested.
