Much of our success as artists depends upon the choices we make before we get started drawing or painting. In this unit of advanced drawing we will focus on composition using photographs from the instructor and your own collection. We will discuss what makes a good photo reference and how to modify the information in the photograph to express our vision. We will work on creating dynamic compositions by organizing the picture plane and creating a focal point and the illusion of depth. Lessons will cover simplifying shapes to create value masses and interesting groupings. All classes will be held on-line and consist of an interactive group of students. Instruction will be through lecture, demos, student work and live feedback with the instructor. Student choice of media. Prior drawing experience suggested.
