Anne Blair Brown – A Painting in 40 Strokes: Lay It and Leave It! (Online Class Recording)

Date recorded: Friday, March 25, 2022
Medium: Oil or acrylic

Painting with complete simplicity and spontaneity can be a daunting task. The goal of many artists is to paint with abandon and have the end result look as if they gave it no thought…magic. The truth is, learning and applying basic foundational tools is the key to getting artists closer to the “land of the loose and free”. Anne has developed a process that helps get the design and values nailed down from the beginning to ensure plenty of “playtime” with color and expressive brushwork.

In her demonstration, Anne will highlight this process and then show you how to further train yourself to paint with confidence and make every brushstroke count. Anne offers this process as a springboard for you to find your own unique artistic voice.

Anne Blair Brown was born in North Kingstown, Rhode Island and raised in in Nashville, TN where she currently resides. Her work centers on intimate scenes inspired by local surroundings as well as travel in the US and abroad. “My artwork starts in reality and evolves through my imagination. As an impressionist, I believe in a painting process that enables me to tap into my creativity rather than trying to copy and perfect. My goal is to invite you, the viewer, to connect to the painting such that you personalize the experience and use your own imagination to complete the story.”

Currently, Anne’s work can be seen at art galleries across America including Provincetown, MA, Kennebunkport, ME, Charleston, SC, Bluffton, SC, and Leipers Fork, TN. anneblairbrown.com
