Our live online classes are taught via Zoom. Students have the opportunity to interact with the instructor and other participants, watch live demos and receive feedback and instruction. You will have access to a class chat forum on our website where you can share work, comment and ask questions. You will also have access to recordings of the class that will expire 30 days after the final day of the course.
To take this class, you need a microphone and camera enabled computer OR an iPad /smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.
You will receive an email with the Zoom link and class details 5-7 days before the class starts (don’t forget to check your junk folder). Find out how to access the class group message board here.
We recommend that you take Part 1 before Part 2.
This five-week class is a continuation of the principles of backlighting addressed in Part 1. We will study more complex setups and the various effects of backlighting: rim light, contre-jour, transparency, diffusion, reflection, and glare. We continue studying the use of color and value to show how light describes nature. We also address more complex compositional challenges.
In addition to the items on the materials list, if you wish to work from life you’ll need a window covered with a semi-sheer fabric or tracing paper; a table in front of the window; block all the light from any other windows in the room.
Don’t miss this 5-week online workshop with acclaimed artist AimeeErickson, 2019 Artists’ Choice and Grand Prize Winner at Plein Air Easton.
